Dating your taylor guitar
Employees Bob Taylor, Kurt Listug, and Steve Schemmer purchase the American Dream Musical Instrument Manufacturing shop in Lemon Grove, California, and change the name to Taylor Guitars; all rosewood used is Brazilian.

For guitars made prior to 1977 use the extended search function.
The second digit tells you whether it is a 6-string (denoted by a 1) or 12-string (denoted by a 5) guitar.
And the third digit of the model number identifies the guitar’s body shape.
